The practice

An accountancy practice is judged on two things. Whether its numbers are right, and whether you trust it when the question gets difficult. Since 2005, in Les Berges du Lac, we have held both. Our clients stay because they know who answers the telephone.

What you carry

Running a business in Tunisia means keeping a calendar that never stops.

None of these obligations gives you warning. They arrive every month, every quarter, every year, whether trading is good or not.

Stack of accounting files and receipts on a desk in warm late afternoon lightThe invoice is changing shapeEvery payslip commits youA tax audit is not prepared on the dayForming a company takes more than articlesThe annual accounts arrive too late to decide anything
  • The deadlines land every month

VAT, withholding tax, stamp duty, the vocational training levy and the housing fund contribution. One monthly return covers taxes that have nothing to do with each other, and a single omission is enough to trigger late penalties.

  • The invoice is changing shape

Electronic invoicing through the TTN El Fatoora platform imposes a format, a transmission route and an archiving duty that look nothing like a paper invoice. Many businesses discover the rule only once it already applies to them.

  • Every payslip commits you

A salary miscalculated, a social security return left incomplete or a contract wrongly classified will come back years later, with surcharges, in front of an inspector or an employment tribunal.

  • A tax audit is not prepared on the day

It is prepared in the quality of entries posted three years earlier, in the receipts that were filed, and in whether what was declared agrees with what was recorded.

  • Forming a company takes more than articles

One-stop shop, registration, registered office, publication, tax identification number, social security affiliation. Each step depends on the one before it, and an incomplete file goes back to the start.

  • The annual accounts arrive too late to decide anything

Accounts closed once a year tell a story that has already ended. A business is steered on current figures, available when the decision is in front of you rather than six months afterwards.

How we work

From the first meeting to signed accounts.

A simple method, the same for every file, whatever the size of the business.

The first meeting

You tell us what you do, your legal form, your tax regime and what worries you. We listen before proposing anything. This meeting costs nothing.

No obligation

Taking on the file

We collect what exists, review the last few years, identify what is missing and say so plainly. If the file is coming from another practice, we handle the handover between colleagues.

Review

Day-to-day work

Entries, reconciliations, returns, payslips. Your deadlines sit in our calendar rather than yours. You get your figures when you need them.

Monthly

Closing the accounts

Financial statements, the tax return package, statutory filing, and a meeting to explain what the accounts say about your business. Accounts nobody talks through are of no use to anyone.

Annual

One person

The same person from the first meeting to the signed accounts. No switchboard, no file changing hands.

Professional secrecy

We are bound by professional secrecy under the rules of the profession. What you tell us does not leave the practice.

Three languages

We work in French, English and Arabic, with the Tunisian authorities and with your foreign partners alike.

The practice is registered with the Tunisian Institute of Chartered Accountants and works within the professional framework it sets, which governs independence, professional secrecy, and the strict separation between advisory work and statutory audit.

Twenty-one years

What changes when your accountant has known the file from the beginning.

The value of a chartered accountant is not measured in the first year. It is measured the day a difficult question arrives and the answer already exists, because somebody has followed the business long enough to know where it came from.

21In practiceThe practice has worked with businesses established in Tunisia since 2005.
9Areas of workFrom day-to-day bookkeeping to the statutory audit of accounts.

1Point of contactThe same one, from the first meeting to the signed accounts.

The first year

We learn your business. We take on the history, correct what needs correcting and put the tax calendar in order.

The third year

The accounts are in order and the deadlines are met without anyone thinking about them. The questions move from compliance to decisions: investing, hiring, distributing.

The tenth year

The practice knows your earlier years better than most of the paperwork you have kept. An audit, a sale or a funding round is prepared on a file that is already clean.

Today

Clients who arrived with a company still being formed and who are still here. That is the only statistic this practice is genuinely proud of.

The calendar

A Tunisian tax year, seen from the practice.

This is the rhythm we keep for you. The exact dates depend on your legal form, your tax regime and the finance act in force, and following them is precisely our job.

Every month

The monthly return

VAT, withholding tax, stamp duty, the vocational training levy and the housing fund contribution. One return, several different taxes, one deadline you cannot miss.

Every quarter

Social security returns

Declaration of wages to the national social security fund and payment of contributions, based on the payslips issued during the quarter.

During the year

Instalments on account

Three instalments calculated on the previous year’s tax, paid during the year and then set against the final liability.

Early in the year

The employer’s annual return

A yearly summary of wages paid, fees paid and amounts subject to withholding tax, together with the certificates to be issued to each recipient.

At the year end

The financial statements

Balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement and notes, prepared under the Tunisian accounting system for businesses.

After the year end

Corporation tax and statutory filing

Annual tax return, tax return package, approval of the accounts by the general meeting and filing with the national business register.

This calendar is indicative and deliberately carries no dates: they vary with the regime and with each year’s finance act. Ask us for the exact calendar that applies to your company.

Why OAC

What sets us apart comes down to very little.

None of it is dramatic. Together it explains why our clients do not leave.

Twenty-one years at the same work

No diversification, no change of direction. Accountancy, audit and advice, practised since 2005 in the same place.

A person, not a switchboard

You call the practice and speak to somebody who knows your file. Ordinary to say and rare to find.

Advice before the entry

An accounting entry records a decision already taken. We would rather be asked before the decision, while something can still be changed.

Institute member

The practice is registered with the Tunisian Institute of Chartered Accountants and works under its rules on independence, ethics and professional secrecy.

Three working languages

French, English and Arabic. Your foreign shareholders read the same accounts as the Tunisian authorities, without an approximate translation in between.

In Les Berges du Lac

An office you can walk into, put the documents on the table and leave with an answer. Being nearby changes the relationship.

Getting started

Three steps, and the first one is free.

Whether you are forming a company, changing practice or simply want a second opinion, it starts the same way.

Book a meeting
  • You write or you call

A message, a call to +216 71 963 961, or the form at the bottom of this page. Tell us in two lines what it is about.

  • We look at your situation

A first meeting at the office or by video call. We look at what you do, your tax regime and your recent years if they exist.

  • We send you a proposal

The exact scope of the engagement, what is included, what is not, and the fees that go with it. You decide after that, without being pushed.
